Alida M. (Gasparick) York, 94, of Bark River, passed away early Tuesday morning September 26, 2017 at Emmons Adult Care Home in Bark River.
Alida was born in Perkins on March 27, 1923, daughter of Gerard and Gertrude (Tauscher) Broeders.
She graduated from Felch High School in 1942.
In December of 1942, Alida married Leo Vish who was killed during WW ll. She married Fred Gasparick in February of 1945 and they raised 10 children together until his death on February 19, 1970. In December of 1985 she married Cletus York who preceded her in death, May of 1990.
Alida loved to cook, sew, bake, and crochet. She especially loved gardening and her flowers.
She was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America, the Eagles Club, Sacred Heart League and Thomas St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Among survivors are her children; Clyde (Sally) Gasparick of Ironwood, MI, Robert (Julie) Gasparick of Escanaba, MI, Thomas Gasparick of Texas, Dale (Tamara) Gasparick, of DePere, WI, Douglas (Rita) Gasparick of Bark River MI, Joseph (Ann) Gasparick of Kingsford, MI, John (Sheri) Gasparick of Little Chute, WI, Judy (Allen) Prato of Arizona, Teresa Corrigan of Sheboygen, WI, and step daughter; Rita (Lloyd) Harrison of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; 25 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Ernest (Irene) Broeders of Bark River, Ted (Nancy) Broeders of Escanaba, Milton (Virginia) Broeders of Perkins, , Donald Broeders of Perkins, John (Dawn) Broeders of Arizona, Pearl Elberson of Philadelphia; sisters in law, Betty Broeders of Hermansville and Ruth Broeders of Gladstone; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Leo, Fred and Cletus, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara; daughter in law, Peggy; grandson, Benjamin;; brothers Gerard Jr., Leo, LeRoy and Nicholas Broeders; half-sisters, Johanna Lucas and Margaret Anderson; and half-brother, Sid Lucas.
Visitation will be Sunday, October, 1, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 2nd at 9:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will take place in Foster City Cemetery.
