Agnes R. VanEnkevort

Agnes R. VanEnkevort, 89, of Bark River, passed away on Thursday evening, July 20th 2017, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Agnes was born on June 16, 1928, in Perronville, MI, daughter of Peter and Josephine (Olkives) Holochwost. She graduated from Harris High School in 1941. In 1988, she graduated from Bay College with an Associate’s Degree in Botany.

On October 5, 1945, Agnes married Henry J. VanEnkevort at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba.
She worked at the Glove Factory in Escanaba, and in 1990 she became employed at Mead Paper as a Botanist. Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker.

Agnes loved flowers and being in her garden.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River.

Agnes is survived by her children, Regina (Allen) Berg of Bark River, Pamela (Todd) Westerberg of Escanaba, Peter (Tracy) VanEnkevort, Fred VanEnkevort and Gordon (Angie) VanEnkevort, all of Bark River; grandchildren, Chris Berg, Andy Berg, Matt Westerberg, Bryan Westerberg, Clara VanEnkevort, Jack VanEnkevort, Franky VanEnkevort, Bobby VanEnkevort and Mary Berendt; great grandchildren, Austin Berg, Alexis Berg, Piper Berg, Nolan Westerberg and Tanner Westerberg; sister, Victoria Moody of CA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Agnes is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; brothers, Russell, Tony, John and Casmir Holochwost; and sisters, Veronica Skrobiak, Josephine Lee and Priscilla LaFave.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 3-5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 6 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 26th at 10 a.m. at the Bark River Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the VanEnkevort family.

  1. Regina and family….was saddened to read of your moms passing. I will always remember her from chemo land. She was such a gracious lady. I’m sure she will be greatly missed. My condolences and sympathy to all of her family.
