He worked at Escanaba Machine, Clairmont, Escanaba Taxi, Delta Taxi, Early American and after he retired went to work at the newly opened Walmart in Escanaba mixing paint or wherever he was needed. In addition he volunteered at Hermansville Community Center and Bark River Lions Club. Vernon, along with his dog, Whiskey, spent countless hours not only visiting his sister, Evelyn, but all the patients and staff at Pinecrest Medical Facility.

Vernon loved his family, gardening, being outdoors, and his dogs including most recently adopted, Whiskey.

He made an impact on anyone who met him. He was a caring soul and gave to so many and expected nothing in return. He will be missed dearly by many.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 8th from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River with Rev. Daryl Pepin officating.
