In 1955, CJ enrolled at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. At the Palmer College he was honored by completing the complex dissection course in the top ten of his class. He graduated from Palmer College in 1959.

On September 1, 1956 he married his high school classmate, Eudora “Dode” Nitz. The couple moved to Escanaba in 1961 where CJ set up his practice of thirty-three years.

CJ was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba where he served nine years on the church council, six years as financial secretary and later years on the Elder Committee.

After his retirement in 1995, CJ and Dode bought a place in Yuma, AZ, where they spent the winter months playing golf and enjoying the warm climate. It was there where CJ got his first hole-in-one after a lifetime of anticipation. They sold their home in AZ in 2011.

CJ enjoyed raising begonias every year and a small vegetable garden. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and playing cribbage with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Eudora; sisters-in-law, Annete Norelius and Freida Lentz; and many nieces and nephews.
