Beverly J. Utt, 82, loving wife of James Utt, of rural Escanaba passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Danforth on January 4, 1935, daughter of Lawrence and Verna (Anderson) LaMarche. Part of her childhood was spent in Detroit during WWII.

On July 29, 1950 Beverly married James Utt at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hyde.

Beverly was a devoted mother, raising four daughters in the country, planting a garden, canning fruits and vegetables and running a tidy household. After her children were raised, she went back to school and received her LPN Degree. She worked at St. Francis Hospital, primarily in OB Department. She loved working with the new moms and their babies.

Upon retiring, she and her husband Jim traveled the southern states in the winter, settling in southern Texas for nineteen years.

She loved people and treasured the memories of her family and all of her friends at the Highland Golf Club, and the people she was close to in Texas.

Among survivors include her husband, James “Jim” of Escanaba and four daughters, Kathleen (Al) Rabitoy, Karen (Sam) LaFave, Cheryl (Bob) Maier and Tammy Hereau. The girls and her eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren were the highlights of her life.

She loved the get-togethers with her five surviving brothers, William, Richard, Thomas, Don and Theodore on their birthdays, bringing them all a loaf of freshly baked bread.

Beverly had one sister, Shirley, who along with her parents and older brother, Robert, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1st from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Beverly will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Zindler officiating.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to UP Health Hospice, especially Kristen Lotter, for the care and comfort they provided to Beverly and her family.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Utt family.
