Tracie L. Frappier, 53, Gladstone, passed away Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016 at her home surrounded by family and friends, following a lengthy illness.

Tracie, daughter of Albert and Marilyn (Faunce) Johnston, was born on April 19, 1963 in Cadillac, MI. She was raised in Cadillac and relocated to the Escanaba area when she was fourteen for only a couple years before moving back downstate to Clare. Tracie graduated from Clare High School in 1981.

During the two years when Tracie lived in the U.P. is when her path crossed with her future husband, Fred Frappier. They continued their friendship and relationship when she lived in Clare until she returned to the U.P. following her graduation. On June 25, 1983, Fred married the former Tracie Johnston at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba.

She worked part time when her kids were younger and was employed for 20 years for UP Health System – Doctors Park in Escanaba until her health issues forced an early retirement.

Tracie was a member of St. Anne’s Church. She enjoyed designing, remodeling and decorating homes, watching HGTV, crafting, DIY projects and following her kid’s activities. Tracie’s main focus in life was her family.

Among survivors include her husband, Fred of Gladstone; daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Gartland and Megan (Brian) Haack all of Gladstone; step-mother, father, Albert (Sally) Johnston of Reed City, MI; grandchildren; Aundrea Haack, Mason Whitney, and Kenzi and Brennan Gartland; siblings; Jim (Brenda) Johnston of Coleman, MI, Ted (Robin) Johnston of Allen, TX, Margaret (Mike) Radtke of Farwell, MI, Don (Heidi) Johnston of Farwell, MI, Ron (Theresa) Johnston of Bad Axe, MI and Cathy (Scott) Moreno of Farwell, MI; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn in 2012; and twin grandchildren, Hunter and Parker Gartland.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 11th from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Saunders officiating.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tracie’s name may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
