After retirement, Allen bought an old farm in Perronville where he enjoyed riding his old tractor, four-wheeling, planting alfalfa for the deer, working in the woods, and making roads. He built a camp off the land which ended up being their home in 1993. Allen and Delores spent many happy hours building and improving the place and enjoying being close to nature.
The couple toured the country in their motorhome visiting out of state relatives and camping with the family. Allen enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cross country skiing. He also loved music and dancing.
