Verna Mae Bonifas, 74, Escanaba, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.

She was born in Escanaba on January 5, 1942, daughter of the late Vernon and Edith (Torstenson) Reno. Verna was raised in Garden areas. She attended Cooks High School.

Verna married Albert LeRoy Bonifas, Sr. on October 11, 1958 at St. Maryís Church in Cooks.

She was Catholic by faith.

On January 1, 1977, they moved to Des Moines, IA. She worked at World Bazar as head cashier and assistant manager and as a teacherís aide at Park Care Christian Church. She also kept book for her husband as he owned and operated his own tractor trailer.

In 1987, they moved to Bark River.

She enjoyed wood working, tending to her flower beds, and going with her husband over the road. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Verna is survived by her children, Alberta (Donald Sr.) St. Cyr, John (Chrissy) Bonifas, Nancy (Tony) Sheski, and Albert (Michelle) Bonifas Jr.; family from Detroit, Dave (Jacky) Sirdan; grandchildren, Donald (Angie) St. Cyr Jr., Jamie (Ashley) St. Cyr, William (Rose) St. Cyr all of Wilson, Jonathan (Heather) Bonifas and Jordan Bonifas both of Green Bay, Kenny Veith of Des Moines, IA, Joseph (Lynn) Sayre and Dani (Nicole) Sayre of WI, Charles (Lindsey) Rice and LeRoy (Heather) Rice of Escanaba, David, Jackie, Dani, Amanda, David Sirdan of Detroit, Ashley (Joey) Bonifas, Travis Bonifas, Krystyn Bonifas and Jasmine Bonifas all of WI; great grandchildren, Jasmine Oretego and Taylor Sanford of AL, Shelby St. Cyr, Hailey Randall, Gavin St. Cyr, Lilly St. Cyr, Owen St. Cyr all of Wilson, Jordan and Brabyn of Escanaba, Lexus, Haley and Cloe Bonifas of WI, Jasper Sayre of WI, Payton Charles of WI, Addie and Tucker Rice of Escanaba; and nieces and nephews, Kaden and Miles Bonifas of WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert on February 12, 2011; daughter, Ivy in 2013; brother, Edward in 1946; and half-brother, Millard in 1981.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating. A meal will follow services at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
