William D. “Bill” Baker, 82, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 20, 2016 at the Bishop Noa Home.

He was born on July 30, 1933 in Escanaba, son of William and Janeve (Borrow) Baker. Bill graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1950. He was the class President and also lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track.

Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956.

Bill was employed with Mead Paper Mill.
He was a very active member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church and was also a member of the Blue Army.

Bill is survived by his sibling, John (Mary) Baker of Escanaba and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, William M. Baker in February of 2014; and brothers, Harold, Lloyd, James and LeRoy.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 24th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 2 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed in Bill's name to the Bishop Noa Home.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Baker family with arrangements.
