James B. “Papa Jim” Tatrow, 68, Wells, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, December 19, 2015 at his home of natural causes.

He was born on May 19, 1947 in Escanaba, son to Bonard J. and Jeanette (Harbenski) Tatrow.
Jim was raised in Garden and graduated from Garden High School in 1965. He attended college in Colorado for two years earning an associate’s degree and a welding certificate.

Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal.

He was employed with Rust Engineering and then New Page as a RMP operator for a combined 43 years until his retirement on May 18, 2009.

Jim enjoyed flying, golfing, computers, attending the EAA in Oshkosh, and especially spending time with his family. He was an avid Packer fan.

Among his survivors include Patricia “Trish” Tatrow of Escanaba; children, Tara (Todd) Nelson of Wells and Kim Geisenhaver of Escanaba; grandchildren, Cassandra and Cole Nelson, Jacob and Jordan Steinhausen, Nicholas Royer, Josh (Jenna), Ryan, and Britney Nelson; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Kaden Nelson; brother, Ron (Faith) Tatrow of Mukwonago, WI; and his dog, Mocha.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Bonnie Jean Tatrow.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 23rd from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 5 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Saunders officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Garden Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Tatrow family.
