Howard W. Flath, 83, 1032 S. 19th St., Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on August 3, 1932 in Escanaba, son of Walter L. and Esther (Martin) Flath. Howard attended Bark River Harris School.

Howard served in the Army from March 4, 1954 until his honorable discharge on March 7, 1956.
On December 29, 1956, Howard married Delores “Lorry” Anderson at Calvary Baptist Church in Escanaba.

Howard was employed with Ace Wholesale Grocery from 1956 – 1960 and then Kobasic Furniture from 1963 – 1971. He then was a self-employed carpet cleaner for 26 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Howard loved to go to his camp and do the work to maintain a clean and beautiful yard.

Among the survivors include his wife, Delores “Lorry” Flath of Escanaba; daughter, Jean Fulton (Joe Brow) of Escanaba; sons, John (Deb) Flath of Escanaba and Bill (Sherri) Flath of Green Bay; and grandchildren, Daniel and David Blevins, Meggan Flath, Josh Flath and Cortney Fleming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Judy Flath and sister, Carol Miller.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8th from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Flath family.
