Carrol Jarvey, 93, Escanaba, passed away from Alzheimer’s disease on July 28, 2015 at Bishop Noa Home where he had been a patient for six day.

He was born in Goodman, WI on September 12, 1921, son of Charle and Delia (Martell) Jarvey.

He was raised in L’anse and graduated from L’anse High School in 1939. He graduated from Michigan Tech in 1949.

He married Mary Margaret Morin in 1943. She passed away in 1973. He married Rosemary Morrow in 1974.

Carrol joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1940. After his honorable discharge in 1943, he joined the U.S. Army Air Force. He was assigned to the 94th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. He flew 35 missions over occupied Europe as a tail gunner. He was extremely proud of his service in the Air Force. He receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, Good Conduct Medal, and Air Metal with four oak leaf clusters. He was a staff sergeant at the time of his discharge.

He was a member of St. Anne’s Church, a life member of Elks Lodge 324, a charter member of the American Legion Post 71, a member of State Employers Retirement Association (SERA), Bishop Baraga Association and Marygrove Retreat League. He also supported several students in Honduras.

Carrol was employed by the State of Michigan his entire career and retired as District Appraiser of the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1988.

He and Rosemary enjoyed many winters in Arizona after their retirements.

Carrol is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; daughters, Cheryl Anne Jarvey of Milwaukee, Lynn Marie (Roger) Norton of North Kingstown, RI and Michelle Jarvey of Escanaba; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and very special nephew Donald (Audrey) Jarvey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Margaret; two sons, Gregory and Wayne Jarvey; brothers, Joseph Norman, Howard, and David; and sister, Betty Belaire.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, from 3 to 5 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church. Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Anne’s Boiler Fund.
