Hazel M. King, 82, of Escanaba, passed away early Monday morning, July 20, 2015 at her home.

She was born on March 22, 1933 in Escanaba, the daughter of Edward and Aurora (Gardner) LaFave.

She was raised in Escanaba and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1951.

She was employed at the Red Owl Store as a cashier for many years before it closed and then worked at Kmart until her retirement. She also sold Avon and was a senior companion.

Hazel was a member of St. Anne’s Church and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Among the survivors include two sons, James (Laura) King Jr. of Escanaba and Raymond (Brenda) King of Gladstone; two daughters, Donna (Jerry) Eis of Escanaba and Debra (Robert) McIntyre of Newago, MI; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Pam) LaFave of Escanaba.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Donald and Harold LaFave; sisters, Viola LaForest, Theresa Crepeau, Ethel LaFond and an infant sister, Gloria.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 23rd from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the King family with arrangements.
