Theodore “Ted” R. Derouin, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Christian Park Health Care Center.

Ted was born on July 29, 1918 to Peter and Evangeline (Bourgoin) Derwin. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1938.

He entered the U.S. Army on July 7, 1942 and T/4 (Sergeant) was honorably discharged on November 30, 1945. As a member of “the Iron Men of Metz” he served with the 360 FA BN Btry of the 95th Infantry Division in Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France (Ardennes and Battle of the Bulge). He received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with three bronze campaign stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and the American Theatre Ribbon.

On February 28, 1946 he married Marcellian “Marcie” Charles of Cornell at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba. They were married for 69 years.

He was employed at Mead Paper Company for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, pool, archery, traveling and was an ardent boxing and Green Bay Packer fan.

He was a member of the Mead Management Club, Delta County Pool League, Highland Golf Club and Past President of the Red Buck Archery Club. He was also a lifetime member of the American Veterans Post 123 and the VFW Post 2998.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean; brother, Stanley of Washington; sisters, Ethel (Fred) Boddy, Dorothy (Al) Tobey/Gilbert and Helenjoy (Swede) Boudreau/DeLaire as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

He is survived by his wife, Marcie; son, Ted and daughter in law, Chris (Erickson); granddaughters, Dr. Sarah (Matt Greer) Derouin and Dr. Emily (Phil Bandoch) Derouin as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 11th from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 10 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Dean Derouin Memorial Scholarship Fund, Escanaba High School.
