Kenneth Eli “Ken” Taylor, 80, 2722 South Hill Rd, Gladstone, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born on January 4, 1934 in Eustis, MI, son of Eli and Jennie (Tousignant) Taylor. Ken was raised in Eustis and Schafer. He attended school in Perronville and graduating from Harris High School in 1951. Ken attended Cloverland College for two years.

On August 2, 1951, Ken entered the U.S. Navy and served on the USS J.K. Perry. He earned a Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp) and a National Defense Service Medal prior to his honorable discharge on December 1, 1954.

On June 9, 1956, Ken married Patricia Grzybowski at George’s Church in Bark River.

Ken was employed for Mead Paper as a boss machine tender until his retirement in 1993.

Ken was an avid Tiger and Packer’s fan. He enjoyed camping, traveling with the Gladstone girl’s softball team and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a charter member of the Bark River Legion.

Among survivors include his wife, Patricia of Gladstone; two daughters, Dawn (Harley) LaCarte of Cornell and Debby Wiltzius of Escanaba; son, Dwaine (Debra) Taylor of Escanaba; brother, Arnold (Betty) Taylor of Escanaba; 11 grandchildren, Stacey (Jim) Reath, Kenneth (Shanon) Taylor, Tricia Taylor, Bobbie Jo Taylor, Natasha Taylor, Sam Taylor, William (Trisha) Martin, Tanya (Shawn) Renolds, Daniel (Jeanna) LaCarte, Joseph (Jackie) Wiltzius and Travis Wiltzius.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 22nd from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Bark River American Legion will have military rites at 5 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. John Longbucco as main celebrant and Ken’s great nephew, Rev. Ryan Ford will be the homilist.

Burial will be in Bark River Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Taylor family.
